Spaniard quickest in the dry as former teammate crashes.
With the benefit of dry weather at the Sachsenring circuit, Dani Pedrosa came out swinging on Sunday morning with the quickest time of the MotoGP warmup session. The Repsol Honda rider put down a fastest lap of 1’22.391 with his updated RC212V, besting Casey Stoner by nearly three tenths of a second.
Andrea Dovizioso completed the factory Honda fightback with third in the session, but both he and his teammate will start the race itself behind the front two rows.
Front row starter Jorge Lorenzo was fourth quickest, whilst poleman Valentino Rossi was sixth.
Ducati Marlboro’s Nicky Hayden had a late crash before the fastest descending part of the circuit, lowsiding his Desmosedici GP9.
